The Elements of the Four Temperaments
Earth...The personality of earth is described as melancholic. Longing for something better that brings certain dissatisfaction, they want to be perfect, and are often frustrated as no one really achieves perfection in this life.
Air...The personality of air is described as sanguine. Opposite of the melancholic temperament, they are happy and social, the party-goers; sanguine are the optimists and are fun to be with when balanced.
Fire...The personality of fire is choleric which is in reference to the liver and bile. When balanced they are goal-oriented and have the “fire” of ambition to heights of leadership and motivation. They can be adventurous, decisive, and bold.
Water...The personality of water is phlegmatic which tends to be one who is slower to answer as they tend to think things through more carefully, They are tolerant of others, peace makers, stabilizing society with their conservative family-centered values.
