Bursitis Natural Remedies

The bursae are pockets of thick fluid sacks that lubricate and protect the tendons and joints. They are damaged from injury or over use. This causes pain and inflammation (bursitis) and there may also be stiffness, tenderness and burning, all worse from motion.

Most medical treatment for bursitis includes NSAIDS (Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) with all their side effects, toxicity, and slowing of the healing process. If these don’t work, then they may use injections that may only help symptoms.

From the natural perspective we help bursitis by changing a person’s lifestyle if it is from over use, and to help reduce inflammation in the body so the body can repair itself.

Diet – reduce the toxic load to the body so it has the strength to repair. Eliminate alcohol, tobacco, coffee, black tea, fast foods and dairy.

Supplements for bursitis symptoms include fish oil at 6,000 mg a day to reduce inflammation and help cardiovascular health. Bromelain at 2500 GDU 1 tablet or capsule three times a day between meals as a pain and inflammation reducer; MSM at 6,000 mg a day to assist the body in repair.

Disclaimer: some drugs and herbs should not be combined.

Natural Healing Protocol: Combining supplements will do more to support your body's ability to function properly than using just one. Use the following remedies for best results -- your ability to heal will depend on the severity and length of time your symptoms have been present.
